Wait, what...?

Back in October, when I listened to that first podcast about LoA while at work, the speaker referenced Abraham, repeatedly. None of us knew who Abraham was, so we googled it.

Wikipedia said this:

Esther Hicks, often credited as Abraham Hicks, is an American inspirational speaker and author. She has co-written nine books with her late husband Jerry Hicks, presented numerous workshops on the law of attraction with Abraham Hicks Publications and appeared in the original version of the 2006 film The Secret.

A pseudonym, we decided, a very normal thing, and continued listening.

The next day another friend joined us for work.

“We’re listening to LoA podcasts,” we told her, like experts.

“Oh, I’m big into law of attraction,” she said. “I’m really great at manifesting.”

I nodded at her as if I knew what she was talking about, and like I didn’t think she was stupidly woowoo. I’m pretty sure that I didn’t roll my eyes, and that I looked smart.

When the podcast started, and Abraham was referenced again, we explained to her about Abraham and Esther Hicks.

And then she explained Abraham to us:

“Abraham is a group consciousness that Esther Hicks channels.”

……...

And then my brain did a somersault and gave a disappointed sigh. 

Could I honestly love this podcaster that believed in something like Abraham? I was fairly certain that I couldn’t. Group Consciousnesses from the universe? Frig.
